The first being was Chaos, the void which Eros came out of. Eros was love. Out of the void also came Tartarus, the abyss, Gaea, the Earth, Erebus, darkness, and Nyx, night.
Erebus and Nyx together created Aether, heaven, and Hemera, the day.
Nyx sired many offspring by himself, and his offspring were Moros, doom, Oneiroi, led by Morpheus, dreams, Nemesis, retribution, Momus, blame, Philotes, affection, Geras, aging, Thanatos, death, Hypnos, sleep, Eris, strife, Apate, deceit, Oizys, distress, the Keres, spirits of pestilence, violence, and disease, and Moirai, also known as the Fates. They have an additional name, the Norns.
Gaea created Uranus (Ouranos), the sky, Ourea, the mountains, and Pontus, the personification of the sea (in other words, Poseidon rules over his great-uncle)
After Titanomachy, Gaea was so furious that she got a new relationship with Tartarus and created Typhoeus, the storms. All of the Olympians fled, even the oldest, but the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea took up the job and killed him with his lightning bolts, Zeus. Typhoeus was then buried under Mount Sicily in Italy.
