The First Beings and Children of Them (Exception: Gaea and Uranus's Children)

The first being was Chaos, the void which Eros came out of. Eros was love. Out of the void also came Tartarus, the abyss, Gaea, the Earth, Erebus, darkness, and Nyx, night.

Erebus and Nyx together created Aether, heaven, and Hemera, the day.

Nyx sired many offspring by himself, and his offspring were Moros, doom, Oneiroi, led by Morpheus, dreams, Nemesis, retribution, Momus, blame, Philotes, affection, Geras, aging, Thanatos, death, Hypnos, sleep, Eris, strife, Apate, deceit, Oizys, distress, the Keres, spirits of pestilence, violence, and disease, and Moirai, also known as the Fates. They have an additional name, the Norns.

Gaea created Uranus (Ouranos), the sky, Ourea, the mountains, and Pontus, the personification of the sea (in other words, Poseidon rules over his great-uncle)

After Titanomachy, Gaea was so furious that she got a new relationship with Tartarus and created Typhoeus, the storms. All of the Olympians fled, even the oldest, but the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea took up the job and killed him with his lightning bolts, Zeus. Typhoeus was then buried under Mount Sicily in Italy.

How Some Beings Were Born

How Some Beings Were Born

Some beings were born in an interesting way. The biggest highlight is from Uranus, which was castrated by one of his Titan sons, the evil Titan lord Kronos. Anyways, let's just start going!

How Was Athena Born?

When the goddess Metis was pregnant with Athena, Zeus received a prophecy that any child born from Metis would overpower Zeus. Zeus was angered by this fact that he swallowed Metis whole! It is given that Metis advises Zeus from his belly. Anyways, Zeus had a headache, and when Hephaestus cut Zeus's head open, Athena was born dressed in full battle armor!

Well, what does this mean? Athena was literally born from thoughts because of the headache. As Annabeth explains in the Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 4: Battle of The Labyrinth, "Children of Athena are smart because of the divine thoughts of Athena and the mortal ingenuity of their father," she says.

How Was Aphrodite Born?

Aphrodite is an interesting case. Some myths say she was a child of Zeus and Dione, making her grandparents Rhea, Kronos, Atlas, and an unknown one. Some myths say she was born from the sea foam of Uranus when Kronos castrated him with a sickle, or a curved knife. The reason why Gaea gave Kronos a sickle was because Uranus entombed his monstrous offspring, the Hundred-Handed ones (Hecatoncheires) and One-Eyed Giants (Cyclopes) in Tartarus, deep inside Gaea. This caused Gaea such pain that she wanted Kronos to castrate Uranus.
